At the moment everyone is trying to adjust to working at home, for some it is not a whole new world (queue Aladdin recreation in mind), but for most this is a really challenging time.
Trying to find a new routine in this crazy world, and realising that the way we have to work is not the same anymore is proving hard for me. End of semester is about to come around the corner and trying to find the motivation while being surrounded by snacks and mid-day reality tv shows have proven to be harder than I thought.
So, in honour of us all trying to figure our shit out, I thought I’d give a few tips I have found useful while working at home.
Enjoy.

Set up a dedicated workspace
Having a dedicated workspace is crucial to maintaining concentration and productivity. Your mind needs to associate a place, whether that is at a desk, or at the kitchen table, wherever you want to work with productivity. You can plan it out however works best for you, me personally I am a minimalist when it comes to my desk. Ensure that your not mixing up habits, for example, if you work from bed or on the couch your brain might not be able to separate work and sleeping and rest.
Have dedicated times to work
I suggest keeping to your schedule you had before all of this happened. So if you were going to school from nine and finishing at three, or going to uni three days a week from 11-4 it is important to still do this. If you just plan your days loosely your brain will fall out of that work routine pretty quickly and you’ll find that naps, walks and TikTok (all vital while in isolation) will slowly take over. But if you are strict with yourself and set hours that you need to work, you’ll be able to balance life and work much better. Same goes for meals, don’t go eating lunch at 4pm and then dinner at 10pm and then the next day having lunch at 10am and dinner at 4pm.
Get ready in the morning
DO NOT STAY IN YOUR PJ’S.
This is something that I have personally found has helped me the most. Getting up and having a shower, getting dressed and doing my make-up has made me feel SO human. I am not saying put makeup for a study day, but a day where you have a lot of stuff to get done whether that be just school, or school and stuff outside of it it can help to feel put together.
Makeup isn’t the only thing that can help, having a shower and putting your hair up and popping a bit of perfume on can also work wonders when working from home.

Get outside often
Getting outside and in the fresh air might not be possible for everyone at the time. If you are housebound getting some sunlight can be just as important. I am mainly talking about Vitamin D in this case. Sunlight is a great source of natural Vitamin D, which can boost one's energy levels throughout the day. Getting outside for a walk, a jog or even to just sitting and soaking up the rays is a great way to help with the midday slump. Getting outside can also refresh your mind, with a change of scenery it can break the trance of staring at your computer screen for hours on end.

THANKYOU!! I love these tips!
Such good tips to use, thanks Mads!
