My Current Skincare On A Budget

Lately, I have stepped up my skincare routine, not in terms of products just in ensuring that I am being strict and consistent with making sure my skin stays happy and healthy. My routine is defiantly less extravagant than it used to be because I have to live off a university student budget, but I do think I’ve finally figured out what works for my skin, that also remains in the budget.

So here are my go-to products at the moment to keep my skin looking healthy and glowing.

CLEANSERS

I have two cleaners, one for the morning and one for the night. I usually try and cleanse in the shower, because it saves me having to do it later on.

So for in the morning, The Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel has worked wonders on my skin and it lasts FOREVER. I ordered mine maybe five months ago and I still have at least a month, even longer before it runs out. I find it quite light and it doesn’t strip my face of moisture that some cleaners do. I trust Mario Badesco as a brand, they are affordable and have amazing reviews. You can purchase from their online store, or I defiantly know they stock it in Mecca and Sephora.

At night I like to use something that’s a slightly more harsh and deep cleaning, for my birthday I was given the Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Cleanser and started using it and fell in love. It is perfect for at night when you want to make sure that all your residual makeup and grime from the day is off. The only negative I can find with this product is that it does tend to dry my skin out quite a lot. So ensure that you use a moisturiser that is going to put a lot of moisture back into your skin. In terms of purchasing this product, you can pretty much always find it at your local supermarket.

MOISTURISERS

Again I have two moisturisers which I float between, depending on what the weather is like and how my skin is feeling. On a rare occasion, if my skin is feeling super dry, I will use both together.

Simple is a affordable brand that has really good products. I have tried several different products from them and The Kind to Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser is defiantly one of my favourites. It is super lightweight and has up to 12 hours hydration. I usually use this on days where my skin feels especially dry or at night when after using my cleanser. It doesn't leave that oily residue that some moisturises do once it has absorbed into the skin I can hardly feel as though I have anything on.

Cetaphil is a known and loved brand. Light, natural and great for people with sensitive skin, it is a must-have in everyone's skin collection. I use the Moisturising Lotion for face and body. It is non-greasy and feels light and airy on my face. It is a perfect thing to throw on when you're rushing out the door if you want a light base for your makeup or just as an everyday moisturiser.

MASK

This mask is EVERYTHING! I have finally found my perfect mask. I am not a big fan of clay masks that have to dry on your face, as I find they tend to dry my skin out and cause me to break out. What I love about the Neutrogena Deep Clean Purifying Hydrogel mask is how hydrating, without being sticky it feels. You know the feeling, you're trying to pull a face mask out of its package and the liquid is spilling out everywhere… it's not fun. Well, I find with this mask, that when you pull it out it almost has the constancy of jelly and seems to effortlessly stick to your face. Overall it is an amazing product and I highly recommend.

Everyone knows St.Ives for their iconic apricot scrub, though for people who are looking for an exfoliator that’s a little more gentle on their skin, the Gentle Smoothing Oatmeal Scrub and Mask is a really good option. I try to exfoliate my face at least 2-4 times a week, to ensure that dead skin cells and overall gunk from the air don’t set my skin off. Because I exfoliate often I don’t want a scrub that is going to be harsh and dry out my skin. This scrub is moisturising and doubles as a mask if you leave it on for a few minutes after you’ve scrubbed. It is also not as grainy as the apricot scrub and seems to be a more creamy consistency. Hydrating, gentle plus it smells amazing, overall a fantastic product.
